You bought the bot. Set it up. Announced it to your team.
Three weeks later, nobody's using it.
That's not a you problem. That's a vendor problem — and it's more common than any consultant will admit.
Most AI tools sold to small business owners are oversold on features and undersold on fit. The person pitching you knows their product, not your business. So you end up with something technically impressive that solves a problem you don't actually have.
Here's the pattern I see across hundreds of implementations: the businesses that get real ROI from automation start with one painful, repetitive task — not a platform overhaul. A WhatsApp bot that answers the same 12 customer questions your team answers daily. That's it. Small, specific, measurable.
The trap isn't buying AI. The trap is buying AI before you've named the exact problem it needs to solve — in one sentence.
Before you evaluate any tool, write this down: "We waste X hours per week doing Y, and it costs us Z." If you can fill in that sentence, you're ready. If you can't, no tool will help yet.
What's the one task your team repeats most that you wish could just handle itself?
