Nobody warned you that your new AI tool could actually become a door your competitors — or worse, bad actors — walk right through.
That's not a scare tactic. It's a gap most vendors quietly skip over.
You bought the AI tool with good intentions. Maybe your team uses it, maybe they don't. Either way, you're probably focused on whether it saves time or cuts costs. Fair. That's the right question.
But here's the business reality: when AI tools connect to your email and internal systems, they can be tricked by cleverly worded messages into doing things you never approved. No hacking required. Just a deceptive email your AI assistant follows like an instruction.
This matters for one simple reason. Before you add any AI to a workflow that touches client data, finances, or communications, ask the vendor one question: "How does your tool handle instructions it receives from outside our company?" If they fumble that answer, you have your answer.
You don't need to understand the technology. You need to know which questions separate reliable tools from risky ones. That's it. One question, asked before you commit.
Smart adoption isn't moving fast. It's moving right.
What's one question you wish you'd asked before your last AI purchase?
