You picked the AI tool your tech person recommended. Six months later, it's collecting dust and you're out $2,400.
Sound familiar? You're not alone — and you're not foolish. The tools are genuinely confusing, even for people who've been in tech for decades. The vendors don't make it easier.
Here's what I've learned after 500+ implementations: most business owners don't have a tool problem. They have a selection process problem. Nobody taught them how to evaluate AI tools before buying — so they default to whoever pitched best or whatever the consultant recommended.
The real differentiators aren't features. They're questions like: Who controls your data? What happens when the vendor changes pricing? Does this connect to tools your team already uses? Answering those three questions eliminates 80% of the wrong choices before you spend a dollar.
Start here: before your next AI purchase, ask the vendor one simple question — "What does a successful customer look like at 90 days?" If they fumble the answer, walk away.
That one filter alone saves more money than any comparison article.
What's the biggest reason your last AI tool didn't stick — wrong fit, no training, or something else?
