Most business owners buy an AI tool hoping it will fix how they talk to customers. Then six months later, the subscription is still running and nobody can explain what it actually does.
Here's what the vendors don't tell you: AI layered on top of disconnected systems just delivers the wrong message faster. Your CRM says one thing. Your email tool says another. Your support team knows something different. The customer catches the gap and trust breaks.
That's not an AI failure. That's a data handoff failure. And it existed before you bought anything.
The good news: you don't need to rebuild anything. Start by mapping one customer journey end to end — from first contact to purchase to follow-up. Write down every tool that touches that journey. Spot where the information stops flowing. That gap is your real problem, and usually the cheapest AI wins live right there.
Fix the handoff first. Then AI has something honest to work with.
Have you ever bought a tool that promised to improve your customer experience — only to find your team quietly stopped using it within 90 days? What happened?
