You bought an AI tool. Nobody used it. $200/month quietly canceled three months later.
That's not a you problem. That's a setup problem.
Here's what nobody tells you when you're evaluating AI tools: every new AI system you connect to your business touches your existing data. Your CRM. Your customer records. Your financials. When that connection isn't managed properly, you've created a door you didn't know you opened.
This matters for one practical reason. Before you add any AI tool to your business, ask the vendor one simple question: "How does your system access my existing data, and who controls that access?" If they can't answer clearly in plain English, that's your answer.
You don't need to understand the technology. You need to understand the exposure. A good AI vendor welcomes that question. A bad one gets vague.
The one thing you can do this week: before your next AI demo, write down every system that tool would need to connect to. CRM, email, accounting. Then ask how access gets revoked if you cancel. Takes ten minutes. Saves months of regret.
What's the question you wish someone had told you to ask before your last software purchase?
