The smartest institutions in the country won't deploy AI without first asking: who actually has to use this, and what problem does it actually solve?
That's not a tech question. That's a business question.
The U.S. Department of Education recently pushed back on rushed AI adoption in schools — specifically calling for more input from the people who would use it daily before any rollout. Parents. Teachers. Not just the vendors selling the solution.
Sound familiar? You bought the tool. Nobody used it. Because nobody was asked if they needed it in the first place.
That's not your failure. That's a broken buying process. One that skips the most important step — identifying one specific, painful, repetitive task your team already complains about. That's your starting point. Not a platform. Not a strategy. One problem.
Before you spend another dollar on AI, spend 20 minutes asking your team: what's the one thing you do every week that feels like a waste of your time?
The answer to that question is worth more than any consultant's proposal.
What's the AI tool you bought that never got used — and looking back, what do you think went wrong?
